ive seen speculation that it was chrom’s father’s fault for this, but i think this dying out started a couple thousand years prior, in marth’s era, when all those dragons were turning feral

if you played new mystery of the emblem right and got all the pieces of the starsphere you saved tiki - canonically, if this were an anime or manga and not a game where you can screw up, we all know marth would risk his life for those pieces of the starsphere to save tiki from turning feral

maybe it was for her, maybe it was because of the fact that if tiki turned feral, the entire continent would be destroyed because of her power

we don’t know for sure but going by how much of a loving older brother figure he is to her, i’d say he does this for her
